 Overview

Jasper County Fire-Rescue (JCFR) was created by county ordinance in 2005 by combining Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Ridgeland Rural Fire District, Cherry Point Fire District, Hardeeville Rural Fire District, Tillman Volunteer Fire Department, Robertville-Pineland Vol. Fire Department, Coosawhatchie Vol. Fire Department, Point South Vol. Fire Department, Roseland Vol. Fire District, and the Grays Vol. Fire Department.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of Jasper County Fire-Rescue to provide the best fire and emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of Jasper County in the most cost effective and professional manner possible. JCFR also strives to provide education on fire safety, medical assistance, and assistance to our neighboring communities as needed.

Today, Jasper County Fire-Rescue operates from 12 stations located in the northern, unincorporated areas of Jasper County with both paid and volunteer personnel.  The department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of the County.  Three of the fire-rescue stations are staffed 24/7 with one firefighter and two of the fire stations are cross staffed with an ambulance crew of two personnel 24/7. One station is staffed with cross trained personnel staffing both and engine and an ambulance 24/7. One station is currently staffed with 2 firefighters 24/7, another fire station is staffed during the day time with 1 firefighter, and one stand alone ambulance station with 2 cross trained personnel staffed 24/7. The remaining 3 stations are not staffed currently. The department also has a core of volunteer firefighters that respond to fire incidents and respond additional fire equipment to the scene.  The department staffs 4 advanced life support (Paramedic) ambulances to serve the entire 650 square miles of the County.

The department responds to over 4,500 calls annually, with the majority of those calls being for emergency medical services.  The department also works closely with the Ridgeland, Hardeeville and Levy Fire Departments to provide service to the residents and visitors of the County.  The Fire-Rescue budget for FY2019 is approximately $5.5 million.

The Jasper County Communications Center is a consolidated dispatch center; providing police, fire, and emergency medical dispatch services to the citizens and visitors of Jasper County.

Jasper County Communications Center was founded to provide the vital link between the citizens of Jasper County and all emergency responders, to include police, fire fighters, and emergency medical technicians during times of emergency. Housed in the Emergency Services Building, the center is built to operate four (4) console positions and serves as a backup center to Beaufort County Communications in times of disaster, should the need to relocate occur.

As a 9-1-1 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point), the Jasper County Communications Center is required to:

20190411_093200.jpg
  • Provide an enhanced 9-1-1 center; providing ANI (Automatic Number Identifier) and ALI (Automatic Location Identifier) features.

  • Provide a sufficient number of 9-1-1 lines.

  • Provide an electronic recording system that records all incoming and outgoing 9-1-1 calls, as well as radio transmissions from the dispatch channels.

  • Provide immediate call-back options of recordings for 9-1-1 personnel to access.

  • Maintain a physically secure facility to house the 9-1-1 Center.

  • Provide the equipment necessary to communicate with the hearing/speaking impaired.

  • Employ communications personnel that have been trained and certified in the Telecommunications Specialist Course at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

  • Employ communications personnel that are certified NCIC operators, CPR certified, and EMD certified.

We utilize the Smart911 system to aid in obtaining information on the residents that have signed up for the free service. This system gives our telecommunication officers instant access to important information like the house description, medical conditions, as well as emergency contact information. This information is valuable in case you are unable to communicate with first responders. You are able to give as much or little information you want.
